I intended to write this review after my furled leader had seen its last cast, but now after two months and well over 120 hours on the water it’s still holding up.

I’ve been very pleased with my leaders, I’ve tried both the #0-3 and the #4-6 and my catch rates are on par with the hand-made mono leader I was using previously. They present the fly without additional impact on the water and turn over heavier flies with ease.

I did have to reapply grease 3-4 times over a full day on the water to keep it floating high,

Overall I found these to be a great value, and time saver over having to hand tie mono leader, and highly recommend giving them a try.

Got my KC Badger Brown Trout shirt today!
It’s extremely exceptionally cool. Can’t wait to take some pics holding browns with this bad boy on.

    Great job!

I bought one of these in August 2012, and I am just now ordering a few new ones. I don’t fish that often, but I would say I’ve done more over the past few years than ever before, and this leader has been on the entire time. It’s survived multiple Arizona trips, three to Colorado (including the Eagle River in Vail with snow, ice and 21 degree temps), and even been to Vancouver. The quality is really obvious in colder weather, when this leader remains straight and flexible, when others would look like a Slinky.

Finally have enough small knots and worn spots that it’s time to replace. Thanks for a well-made product.

Listen, when customers at Cabela’s ask if they carry furled leaders made
by Ben Smith from AZ Wanderings what does that tell you? Go and get some and give it a try. And if your mouth hurts afterwards, it’s because you’ll be smiling!

I purchased your e book Quail Hunting A Beginners Guide – how is it downloaded? I did not see a transmit key of any kind.

These leaders last a long time, cast great and eliminate the hassle of stretching a mono leader. A great way to spend ten bucks, you’ll more than get your money’s worth when buying an AZWanderings Furled Leader..

Amazing hopper! I bought a few of these from Desert Sportsman in Scottsdale a couple months ago and used them on small creeks outside of Payson, AZ and caught majority of my trout on these hoppers. Now that I’m back in Arkansas I’ve been using them all the time and trout and bream go crazy over them. Especially bream in small creeks! I would recommend everyone to keep these little guys in you arsenal anywhere you’re fishing!

Thanks for the kind words Seth. Glad to hear they are doing the trick for you. Take care.

Why can’t I rate these higher?
Without a doubt, these are my summer terrestrial go-to’s. I’ve bought multiple packs for myself and my pals. We all agree, these are the best of the best for hoppers.
These little guys are the Kings of Summer; hands down.

I think I may have been one of the test anglers for this fly back in 2011. Just lost my last one on a big bow on the Yakima in Washington. Gonna place an order for some more. They seem to work on just about any river I happen on.

Thanks Eric. Those were some good times floating the big D. Hope to make it back there some day. Take care.

I think size 12 is ideal. 10 or 14 would work just fine too.

nice to hear from you. I personally think all of the furled leaders do best with between 4-5 feet of tippet. For myself, my favorite is an olive five foot leader with 4 foot of tippet. I like to fish the 6 foot leader with 4′ of tippet if I’m casting dry flies to picky trout. Thanks for your question and let me know if I can help further.

They are tied on a size 12 dry fly hook. I’m happy to do up a custom order to fit your needs. Feel free to email me at ben@azwanderings.com
